Watch out for phishing emails or texts from ‘HMRC’

There are a lot of scams going around at the moment from individuals purporting to be from HMRC.

These phishing emails/ texts usually state that you are due a refund but they may also be stating that you are eligible for a grant.

What they all have in common is that they will ask you to click on a link to enter your details or download a form.

Many clients have also received automated phone calls stating that they are due a refund from HMRC. They are then asked to provide their bank details for the repayment to be made.

I just wanted to remind you that HMRC will NEVER send you an email or text, or make an automated call, to advise you that you are due a refund or to ask you to click on a link to provide them with information.

The emails usually give themselves away as they won’t be sent from an hmrc.gov.uk email account and they often include poor English or unusual terminology.

If you receive any suspicious emails or texts, please just delete them or forward them to me. If you receive any suspicious phone calls just hang up!
